General Purpose
The role of Operations Manager is to provide leadership to the production employees and directly manage the logistics, materials, supply chain, planning, and manufacturing functions of the plant. The Operations Manager may work in conjunction with the other Operations Manager and/or Operations Support personnel at the Plant as well as managers at the other APPC Plants in order to optimize plant operations and provide efficiency and consistency within the APPC organization.

- Organizing and directing workflow for satisfying production requirements in a cost-efficient manner.
- Developing and implementing cost-effective alternatives and improvements to the production process.
- Monitor, manage plant inventory
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers and other APPC plants to schedule pick-ups and deliveries
- Planning, directing, and coordinating the manufacturing of products in compliance with company goals and objectives.
- Analyze inventories, production issues, quality data, logistics, dispatching, truck rail scheduling and provide process improvements and solutions when necessary
- Establishing and controlling conditions of production in order to satisfy customer and quality specifications.
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers and other APPC plants to schedule pick-ups and deliveries via truck and rail.
- Assist in supply chain management, production planning, resource planning and scheduling
- Create production plans and schedules
- Analyze inventories, production issues, quality data, logistics, dispatching, truck rail scheduling
- Maintain employee safety and morale by creating safe and efficient working environment.
- Manage/Perform the purchasing, stock control, distribution, production-scheduling tasks.
- Develop budgets, cost analysis and project plans when required
- Strive for continuous improvement through process improvement planning
- Scheduling and dispatching trucks
- Run/Create reports using various computer systems and software
- Interface with customer ERP systems for data entry and retrieval (SAP, Oracle, etc)
- Interface with customer ERP systems and integrate customer requirements in plant production planning
- Perform on-going operational analysis via data reporting
- Leadership/Communication
- Manage Warehouse employees and truck drivers
- Maintain quality of manufacturing employees’ productivity.
- Work effectively in a team environment as the leader and as a team member
- Must have the ability to make decision, motivate, influence, and train people.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Participate on ISO team, Safety Committee and production meetings
- Maintain constant communication with Operations Support Team and Operations managers at all plants.
- Quality Assurance
- Assist in maintenance of ISO or other quality records
- Responsible for plant quality compliance
- Continuous communication with Quality Control Laboratory

***This position may require some weekend hours and “on-call” time for potential customer emergencies.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in business, engineering, logistics, or related field preferably Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or similar degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment and thorough understanding of manufacturing processes
- 5+ years of management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Computer knowledge (good understanding of ERP software and Microsoft Office software)
Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Computer skills
- Work with various computer systems (internal and customer/supplier systems)
- Familiarity with business management software (SAP, Chempax, etc.)
- Information management – Run reports, analyze data and manage various types of information in various formats
- Print orders off of Chempax system, update data in Chempax or other computer systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel)
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Regularly required to finger, grasp and perform repetitive motion.
- Frequently required to reach.
- Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, push, pull, and lift.
- Frequently required to exert up to 50 pounds of force and/or a sizable amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push or pull other objects, including the human body.
Continuous Education
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Seek education and research in order to stay relevant with latest industry trends, management practices and technical information.
- Attend trade meetings and industry conventions as applicable.
